FKS #73.5 – FKS for Dummies

August 31st, 2009 | Category: Podcasts

This show was a complete train wreck.  It was just Bryan and Matt and we tried to come up with our own show.  Boy was that a big mistake.  Clocking in at about 10 minutes – we hope you can tolerate it for that long.  I am not sending this out to the mailing list.

FKS #73 – Delightful Scallops

August 26th, 2009 | Category: Podcasts

We were all over the place for this one, but we were all also on fire, mind you, not literally, although Grimm was there so we easily could have been. Bryan’s back from Vegas and tells us all about it, and Sniper gets ready for his trip to the desert. Matt was up in Boston so he stopped by the studio, not to do the show but to go out to have some delightful scallops. We once again are attempting to get Knee to watch the UFC, this time we have ammunition to make him watch. We do a quick preview for UFC 102, then Sniper has a random observation, which leads to the picture below and Bryan kills.
Also, our old intern Sid E. Burns has a charity bike race coming up to raise money for MS research, help him out by donating here

Here’s the link to the awesome program Synergy that I spoke about in the beginning of the episode: http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/

Synergy is a free application that lets you easily share a single mouse and keyboard between multiple computers with different operating systems, each with its own display, without special hardware. It’s intended for users with multiple computers on their desk since each system uses its own monitor(s). Think of it as a virtual KVM, with seamless autoswitching.

Redirecting the mouse and keyboard is as simple as moving the mouse off the edge of your screen. Synergy also merges the clipboards of all the systems into one, allowing cut-and-paste between systems. Furthermore, it synchronizes screen savers so they all start and stop together and, if screen locking is enabled, only one screen requires a password to unlock them all.

FKS #72 – Booking Faces

August 11th, 2009 | Category: Podcasts

As the title suggests this one devolves to all of us being on Facebook while doing the show, something we would usually get yelled at for, however this was the purpose of this episode, to complain about the things that annoy us on Facebook. Whether it would be friend’s cryptic messages, FDA (Facebook Displays of Affection), or the fact that people have run out of ideas for fan pages, so we decide to become fans of the most offensive things we could find. We did have some errata at the beginning of the show. We’d like to thank Jason Scott of textfiles.com who let us know the name of the band that included data on their CD, Information Society. Thanks for listening Jason. You can check out his blog here.
UFC 101 was this weekend, too but don’t worry, the discussion will be over before you know it!

FKS #71 – Defcon Matt

August 04th, 2009 | Category: Podcasts

This one’s all about Defcon 17. Matt attended Defcon 17 at the Riviera in Las Vegas, and he has the scoop on all the new interesting hacking techniques, technological terrorism and other debauchery that went on.

We did have some follow up UFC News that involved Tito Ortiz. After that it was all Defcon featuring the following topics.
Wall of sheep, Defcon, Defcon 17, twitter, Goons, DoS, Dan Kaminsky, RFID, hacking the prius, hacking, hacking Air Traffic Control, VAX, Retro Room, lockpicking village, scavenger hunt, Dark Tangent, Killer Bees.

We MIGHT have the phones back next week.
